The powerful energy of Fire is not to be taken for granted. Fire has the ability to purge and purify, and scatter old energies into the void.
Some might say that it is our ability to create fire that truly sets us apart from the animal kingdom. Fire has been a powerful element of alchemy for centuries, and we as humans have always been fascinated by its powers.
Fire is responsible for the act of destruction, and it can be used to banish anything you no longer want to carry with your through your life. This is why Fire is so incredibly powerful for the process of purification. As humans, we use extreme heat to sanitize, but as witches, we can use fire to purify ourselves and our lives of old energy.
Fire is responsible for passion, it is through our inner fire that we can connect with Source and the Universe, and without that passion life would not be worth living. In the Craft, Fire can be used to bring about rebirth due to its potent transformation qualities.
In ritual practices, witches most commonly use lit candles to represent the Fire element, but you can also use spicy herbs, Rubies or black crystals, and coals, ash, or embers to pay homage to the Fire element.
The reasons to call upon the Fire element in magickal workings are truly quite endless, but it is especially powerful in any banishing or transformation practices.
